Hello and welcome to our very first blog post!
We’re Akuna Indonesia—your new favorite stop for all things botanical, beautiful, and rooted in tradition. Born from sisterhood, inspired by our Javanese heritage, and powered by plants, Akuna was created with one simple mission: to make everyday hair and skin care feel like a ritual, not a routine.
Akuna started back in 1999, when we were just two high school girls obsessed with herbs, oils, and making balms in our mom’s kitchen. It wasn’t official back then—just something we loved doing. But in 2014, after years of learning, testing, and growing, we finally turned it into a real business. By then, we were old enough (legally and mentally!) and ready to share our passion with the world.
At Akuna, we blend age-old Indonesian wisdom with modern science. Think raw honey, exotic nut oils, soothing florals—all carefully chosen, slowly crafted, and always made by hand in small batches. No harsh chemicals, no empty claims. Just honest, skin-loving care from the land we love.
Along the way, we’ve been lucky to work with amazing people—farmers, crafters, alchemists, and so many professionals and passionate enthusiasts who share our love for nature and good ingredients. Every product is a result of these beautiful collaborations.
And this blog? It’s where we’ll share the heart of our brand—behind-the-scenes moments, our favorite botanicals, and stories from forests, farms, family kitchens, and creative labs. Here are some of the stories we’re about to tell.
